About Strictly St Gemma's

Back by popular demand, we're bringing our sponsored dancing competition back with a brand new look and theme for 2020.

If you've ever fancied having your very own 'Strictly' experience then this is the perfect event for you. Starting in January 2020, we'll provide you with 6 hours of lessons with professional dance tutors, before you get to strut your stuff at the Strictly St Gemma's Grand Finale in front of an audience of over 300 at the Carriageworks theatre in Leeds on the evening of Friday 27th March. You don't need to have any prior dance experience; equally if you've got some experience and fancy learning a new style of dance this is fine as well. It's all about doing something fun and different, while rasing money for your local hospice.

There will be choice of partnered dances (ballroom), which will be either jive or Charleston, or group dances, which will be a mixture of styles including jazz, jive and street; so you can either sign up with a partner or on your own. Each dance routine will have a theme based around 'A Night at the Musicals' with music from Chicago, Hairpsray, Wicked and Aladdin as well as other popular musicals.

Dance lessons will take place at the Dance Studio Leeds, located in Mabgate Mills a short distance from Leeds City Centre. Lessons take place on either on Friday or Sunday evenings times, starting on Sunday 2nd or Friday 7th February. Dates depend on which dance tutor you are assigned to, but if you have any preference or certain dates work better for you we'll do our best to accomodate any specific requirements. You can view a copy of the overall lesson schedule here

Please note that places for the both the partnered dances and group dances are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. If you want to take part in the partnered dances, then we do ask that you find your own dance partner and both register for the event. For more information please read our FAQs.

Online registration is now open. To register your place click on the 'Book Now' button below.

In return for taking part in Strictly St Gemma's each person will need to pay a registration fee, be required to raise a minimum sponsorship of £250 and commit to sell a minimum of 10 tickets to the grand finale show at the Carriage Works Theatre in Leeds on 27th March 2020.
