The Leeds Midnight Walk will take place on Saturday, 8th September.
New Venue, 2 New Routes, a challenge for everyone!
The new start/finish venue is Leeds Beckett University, Headingley Campus, Churchwood Avenue, LS6 3QS.
This year we’re bringing back a shorter 4.5 mile route as well as a longer 10 mile route, both starting at Leeds Beckett University and open to everyone.
4.5 mile route
This route heads down Otley Road before bearing towards Meanwood and up to the halfway point at Holy Trinity Community Hall before heading back up to Otley Road via a slightly different route.
10 mile route
The new 10 mile route follows the same route as the 4.5 mile route into Meanwood before continuing down into Moor Allerton and back to Moortown, passing the Hospice to remember loved ones before stopping for well-earned refreshments at the Immaculate Heart Church. The route back will follow the same route as the 4.5 mile route.
As always, each walker will receive a medal at the end of the walk to celebrate their achievement. The walk sets off at 10pm and men are welcome to take part in the event.
The Leeds Midnight Walk is a very uplifting event; seeing so many people together to walk for one cause is very special and we are thrilled that after 12 years the event is still going strong. Since the event began the people of Leeds have raised a phenomenal £897,392 for St Gemma’s and we hope to raise £80,000 from this year’s event.
It costs £25,000 a day to keep the Hospice running, which is why we ask each participant to raise sponsorship money by taking part in this event. There is no minimum, so any sponsorship you raise will be very gratefully received!
This year’s event will be NEON themed again to ensure walkers stand out whilst taking on this challenge! You will receive a bright t-shirt included in your registration fee which can either be collected on one of our collection evenings at the Hospice or alternatively collected on the day. We will NOT be posting t-shirts out with your fundraising pack. There will be glow sticks and neon items available to buy on the collection evenings as well as on the night of the walk; you can also sign up to the event on the collection nights. All profits from the sale of these items will go straight to St Gemma’s Hospice.
Wednesday 29th August 4pm-7pm
Tuesday 4th September 4pm – 7pm
So go on, sign up for The Leeds Midnight Walk today and walk through midnight on 8th September so that our nurses can be there for patients at midnight every night.
If you have any questions about the event, or would like to volunteer please email Alice or call 0113 218 5570.
