Take on this challenge of a lifetime and conquer the twists, turns, steps and slopes of the formidable fortification that is the famous Great Wall of China. The Great Wall stretches 6000km east to west, it zig zags its way across China, snaking across mountains and through valleys, over watch towers and mountains, through historic battlement stations that are well off the tourist trail! With parts of it dating back to the 7th century BC it has been voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and is always one of the top 10 bucket list destinations!
The adventure in total is for 9 days, with 5 days of this made up of walking along this iconic wonder of the world, climbing the iconic Heavenly Ladder and an exclusive opportunity to ‘lend a hand’ repairing a section of the wall that is currently being reconstructed. You will place a brick in this newly restored section, ensuring your own place in the Great Wall of China!
As well as taking on the trek and placing your own brick in the Great wall, you’ll also have the opportunity to explore Beijing's famous sites, such as the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square before celebrating your achievement with your fellow participants at dinner at the Premier Duck Dinner Restaurant, a real Chinese dining experience.
You will be fully supported throughout the whole journey by specialist leaders and guides and a dedicated St Gemma’s fundraiser who will be able to help support you in raising your sponsorship money.
