We know that Christmas can be a really busy time for everyone and after Santa has been and gone and the last mince pies have been eaten - the last thing you want to do is worry about getting rid of your tree.
For the fifth year in a row, St. Gemma's Hospice is running a Christmas Tree Collection in partnership with Leeds City Council and Paragon Routing Optimisation to collect your Christmas Trees. St Gemma's also relies on the generosity and support of local van hire companies to donate vans and around 100 volunteers to give their time in order to make the collection as successful as possible. We hope the collections are as successful this year as last year where we collected over 1400 trees and raised over £18,000 to support patient care.
It's really easy for you to benefit from this service, all we ask is that you select a donation amount to St. Gemma's Hospice, live in an eligible postcode and leave your Christmas Tree out for us to find (please take the decorations off it first too!). Our aim is to save you the time and energy of trying to find somewhere to take your tree and save you the hassle of vacuuming all those needles from your car.
Due to resources and access to waste recycling sites, this collection is only available to residents in the following postcodes: LS6, LS7, LS8, LS13, LS14, LS15, LS16, LS17, LS18, LS19 and LS28.
The collection will be taking place between Tuesday 8th January and Saturday 12th January
, we won’t give you a specific date and time unfortunately but please leave your tree out on the Monday night and we will collect it that week. (If your tree is taller than 7ft we ask that you cut it in half to ensure it fits on the vans).
If you would like any more information or have a query about St. Gemma’s Christmas Tree Collections, please contact Alice Coggan
. Please also get in touch if you would like to volunteer to help that week or if you know someone with a van who might be able to help.
